Meet the Artist Steven Addi
"I began my passion for art in high school spending all my free time in the photography lab developing my black and white photos. From there I took print making at UNLV and later as I came into some money I started collecting art. My parents were big art collectors, so I was always surrounded by art, they were great inspirations on my path to the arts. In the late 70's I opened my own art gallery which grew to a chain of galleries on the west coast and Hawaii. Addi Galleries first opened in 1978 years and and continues providing new and different art concepts and projects to collectors. In recent years I would finally found time to focus on my art. It was then that I took classes in fine art sculpture and welding at TMCC in Reno. Then spent time at Dale Chihuly’s Pilchuck Glass School where I learned kiln casting and glass fusing. I also spent time at Haystack Academy of Arts in Maine learning blacksmithing. After that I build my sculpture inventory and did gallery shows on the west coast, was on exhibit at the Nevada Museum of Art, and completed commissions for private art collections. Today I travel to art studios in Oregon, California, Nevada and Guadalajara, Mexico to create in different environments and work with other talented artists."
